Day of the presidents

We woke up at 10. This time, I was the one feeling sick : my nose, throat and ears were completey stuffed, clearly a cold (What is happening to me and us, I have been travelling for 3 months and no problems and the last 2 weeks, I contracted some eczema (all over my body), my feet are terrible to see and now a cold). I left my girl sleeping and went to search for a bakery for some toasts and bread, the first one was completely sold out and so was the second and the third. Even the market was sold out of bread (WTF). Finally I found a bakery, where so local sneaked before me in line and took the last sandwiches (Peruvians do that a lot) and he had to buy some mass produced bread (chemical thrash), but it will do. My girl was be a bit worried, because I was away for over an hour.

We had some bread and than headed out to the Chinese restaurant for some food (and this time it was open) and I had a menu (a lot and tasty) and my girl had some white rice. Afterwards, we went on the internet a bit to post the blog posts and telling home, everything was ok (She was feeling already a lot better) and tried to burn my dvds from Peru, so she could take them home. Everyone was really overcharging (15 soles was the cheapest and I needed 2). We went back to the hostel where my girl could rest a bit and I headed out for burning dvds and buying bus tickets to Huaraz. I quickly found a place where they burned my both dvds for only 10 (Fucking thieves) and went back to the hostel.

Together with the girl (She didn't feel like sleeping anymore), we went to buy our bus tickets, to discover Cruz Del Sur was fully booked for the next day. The tour operator called to Cial and they had places for tomorrow, but then I had to take a taxi to the company, costing me some money, or waiting until Saturday (I never had problems with booking only a day ahead in the past, what was happening ?). A local police officer called us a cab, telling us it way cheaper when he did it and we ended up with the same price I could haggle for (I am getting good at haggling). The taxi driver took us to Cial, we bought the ticket and headed out again (even paid 20 soles less than originally priced). It was extremely busy on the road and the taxi driver told us, the next day was an holiday, since the presidents of Brzil, Chile and Peru were meeting up (That is why the bus was full).

He dropped us off at Park Kennedy, where a stage was being built and we went to search for food. My girl desperately wanted spaghetti, but since Miraflores was so expensive we walked back to our neighboorhoud, discovering all restaurants were closed, so we settled for a parilla (a bbq). My girl desperately wanted to have spaghetti and we waked the block some more and finally discovered a pasta/pizza place (13 blocks from our hostel) : excellent food and so cheap (a third of the price in Miraflores, so we both had a second meal).

I bought me a bottle of beer and we headed back to the hostel to watch some television. By 10 o'clock, I was itching all over my body and she was my girl, it was just terrible, as if someone had poured itching powder over our backs. It seemed we changed the blanket today and had put it back on upside down, thus lying on the side that that made contact with the matras (You don't want to know what there was in the matras), so we put the cover under us, almost immediately taking care of the itch and went to sleep (having missed Smallville, The big bang theorem and 2 and a half men).
